As we move closer to reopening, we are actively looking into various scenarios of increasing dental services for you. Of course, our social responsibility and concern for your safety are paramount in any decisions we make.\u00a0 We will not consider expanding our current level of service (which right now amounts to emergency and urgent care only), until we have the blessing of both the Chief Medical Officer (and the Minister of Health) as well as the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Although a phased approach to expanding services will likely occur, we have already\u00a0taken definitive action to minimize aerosols,\u00a0ensure social distancing<\/strong><\/em>, and to\u00a0heighten our surface disinfection protocols<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 We are doing everything possible to go above and beyond; ensuring your health and safety.\u00a0Salvaggio\u00a0Dentistry\u00a0has always utilized personal protective equipment (PPE) that has exceeded all CDC guidelines, however, in light of the COVID-19 Pandemic we have instituted additional guidelines and protocols to ensure your safety. Furthermore, our office has always been a leader in infection control and aerosol management (we\u2019ve had hospital grade air purifiers long before covid-19<\/strong><\/em>) but now we are taking our protocols to a new level. Below is a list of new measures we are taking:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n 1.\u00a0Pre-screening of anyone<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0who walks into our clinic (including all patients, team members, & delivery persons)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n 2.\u00a0Non-contact temperature readings<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0of anyone who walks in the facility (including patients and team members)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n 3.\u00a0Lung efficiency measurements<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0of every team member (at the beginning and end of day) and patients (to be monitored during appointments)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n 4.\u00a0Rearranging of the reception area<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0and the rest of the clinic to ensure appropriate physical distancing<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n 5. Creating a\u00a0virtual reception area<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0to minimize or eliminate people lingering in the office<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n 6. Maintain distancing in the reception area for essential caregivers and parents of minors if they cannot wait in a vehicle or outside the clinic 10. Installed\u00a0sneeze guards or droplet barriers<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0at all reception areas<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n 11. Hand washing and hand sanitizing before all appointments by our team and by our patients<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n 12. Introduction of an\u00a0oral pre-rinse for all patients<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0to reduce germs in aerosols<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n 13.\u00a0Enhanced operatory disinfection procedures<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0of all surfaces between patients<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n 14.\u00a0Regular wiping down\u00a0of all surfaces, with\u00a0high level disinfectant<\/strong><\/em>, that have contact in common areas (such as door handles and counter tops)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n 15.\u00a0New PPE, such as visors, gowns, and N95 masks\/respirators<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0worn by all team members to ensure your protection<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n 16. Disinfection of all outside mail and packages that enter building<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n 17.\u00a0Nightly fogging<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0of the entire office with a\u00a0hypochlorous acid mist disinfectant<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0to access hard to reach places that can be easily missed<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n 18. Installation of\u00a0hospital grade air filtration HEPA filters\u00a0in each operatory<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0and in the\u00a0waiting room<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0(8 high level filters will be scattered all over the office)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n 19. Installation of\u00a0extra-oral vacuum\/suction systems\u00a0in each operatory<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0to eliminate all aerosols during procedures<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n 20.\u00a0Enhanced HVAC disinfection<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0with\u00a0UV light<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0to disinfect all return air<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0While we wait in anticipation of a relaxation of rigid policies and warmer weather, we realize that much has changed in the way\u00a0dentistry\u00a0will be provided.
