Woman holding tooth and glass of waterBurning mouth syndrome refers to a burning sensation in the mouth that is ongoing or recurring. This burning feeling can affect the gums, tongue, lips roof of the mouth, inside of the cheeks and the entire mouth in general. For some people, the burning sensation can be compared to severely burning your mouth or scalding your mouth with hot water. This condition may appear suddenly, or it can appear slowly over time.

Periodontal disease involves the inflammation and breakdown of gum tissue and supporting bone tissue around teeth. Periodontal disease can be localized to one area of the mouth or generalized, where it affects the entire mouth.

What Is A Dental Bridge?

Example of Dental Implant BridgeA dental bridge is also referred to as a fixed bridge or fixed dental prosthesis. A dental bridge is used to replace missing teeth. It can be used to replace one missing tooth or many missing teeth. A bridge is made of two crowns, with at least one artificial tooth in between the two crowns. A dental bridge with two crowns and one artificial tooth, is referred to as a three unit bridge. The artificial tooth fills in the empty space or gap that was left by the missing tooth. A dental bridge is cemented permanently and cannot be removed.

What Is Early Childhood Tooth Decay?

Foods such as baby formula, breast milk, formula, cow milk and different types of fruit contain sugar. These sugars can cause damage to the teeth when they are left in contact with the teeth for extended periods of time. When cavities develop quickly in toddlers and infants, it is referred to as Early Childhood Tooth Decay or ECTD. ECTD usually affects children that are under the age of five.

Many aspects of medicine require radiographs, or x-rays as they are most commonly known, to correctly diagnose issues and prepare a treatment plan for dealing with those issues. Radiographs are also sometimes necessary to confirm the successful treatment of a treatment plan.
